Managing pain and swelling efficiently — treatment completed without the initially planned general anesthesia.
Clinical Documentation

Patient Concern
A young patient presented with acute pain and swelling in the primary molars, indicating deep caries with pulp involvement requiring urgent pulpectomy treatment.
Clinical Challenge
The initial treatment plan called for pulpectomy under general anesthesia (GA). Dr. Asmaa modified the approach using behavior management and local anesthesia techniques, enabling the pediatric root canal treatment to proceed without GA — reducing risk and recovery time for the child.
Treatment Approach
The pulpectomy was performed on multiple primary molars — pulp tissue removal, root canal irrigation, obturation with zinc oxide eugenol, and final composite restoration. All completed in a single visit without general anesthesia at Vision Dental Clinic Abu Dhabi.
Result
The pulpectomy was completed successfully with confirmed root canal obturation on post-operative X-rays. The primary molars were fully restored with composite fillings, preserving the deciduous teeth until natural exfoliation — maintaining space for permanent teeth eruption.
